Danger, Tinkering with Linux May Lead to Uncontrollable Power Trips

It's about time we fight the myth that Linux is for geeks, even in
those few occasions when it actually is. No, those occasions were made
for the little nerd child we all have inside, for that thirst we all
have to savor unchecked power at our fingertips and laugh about it
uncontrollably.
This article sets the stage, http://blogs.the451group.com/opensource/2007/09/19/linux-just-difficult-...
There are several interesting posts, but I will focus on the current theme (and yes I did post there and am quoting myself).
>> I completely agree that the reason Microsoft users are stuck
in a reboot cycle and are ignorant of most of what is in front of them
is because of the closed nature of the beast. The openness of FOSS is
why you can have real and responsive communities. FOSS can always be
made to work for you. On the other hand, you will ultimately find
yourself working for closed apps.
>>And we know what happens when people are allowed to cut out the middle person and enjoy the "profits" of their labor.
And from here, too, http://www.linuxtoday.com/infrastructure/2007092100126OPDBDT
The comment is titled "Learning stinks when all you know about is Windows"
>> I think one of the points from the article is that when you
can learn how something actually works and use that knowledge to
control it, you bite.
>> You can do that with Linux. You can't with Windows. Most
people can't imagine what the green pastures of Linux bring until they
get there.
>> Windows does it's very best to make you a helpless lemming.
